The new Golf GTI cabriolet will use the same engine as the standard GTI model with a 207bhp turbocharged 2.0 litre petrol engine.
This GTI engine achieves a top speed of around 146mph with a 0-62mph time of 7.3 seconds which is slightly slower than the lighter Golf hatchback. The combined fuel consumption figures for the Golf Cabriolet are around 37.2mpg.
The Cabrioloet will have pretty much all the same features as the hatchback GTI with 18" alloy wheels and also the iconic red outlined front grill, a rear diffuser and chrome twin exhaust pipes and not forgetting the tartan cloth upholstery.
